Director’s Corner

Danish Hasan has worked in the nonprofit sector for over a decade. He is the founder of the Autism Fest and of the Tampa’s Opioid Research Network and has extensive experience in public health and community engagement. Danish has served as an AmeriCorps VISTA and as a clinical researcher at the H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center, where he spearheaded projects focused on tobacco relapse prevention methods and electronic cigarettes usage. In 2019, Danish was recognized as the youngest-ever recipient of the Outstanding Alumni Award at the University of South Florida for his service to public health in Tampa Bay.

For six years, Danish served as the Director of Medical Affairs for the Tampa chapter of the Palestine Children’s Relief Fund (PCRF) and served on the Board of Directors of the Poligon National Education Fund, based in Washington, D.C. He has taken volunteer roles with the Hernando County School Board’s citizen oversight committee and United For Sight-Honduras. Danish currently serves as an advisory member on the Henry Ford Hospital’s Zero Suicide Prevention program.

Danish joined MY Mental Wellness in December 2023 and has played an instrumental role in establishing the organization as a faith-based community mental health clinic, the first ever to be housed inside an Islamic center in North America. He also serves as the Director for the Islamic Center of Detroit’s Health department and is overseeing the ICD Community Health Clinic project. Danish’s efforts were recognized with the Beacon Award for Emerging Leader in Muslim Mental Health by the National Muslim Mental Health Conference in 2025.
